How does it work?

EmojiType actively listens for keystrokes. When the delimiter (':' by default) is pressed it checks whether or not to modify the text you are currently working on (whether to insert the corresponding emoji).

Can I add or remove emojis?

Yes, by simply clicking the extensions icon you will be able to not only change your emojis and hotwords but also the delimiter!

Can I use it only on certain sites?

Of course! By clicking the extensions icon you can change the website whitelist and blacklist, as well as toggle them on and off.

img EmojiType is a google chrome extension that allows you to use emojis in any text field by typing a delimiter and the name of the emoji you want to use. It was created when I realized that I was using Instagram more and more in my everyday communication and that it was a hassle to have to open the emoji keyboard every time I wanted to use one. It also has a whitelist and blacklist feature that allows you to use it only on certain websites, as well as a feature that allows you to add or remove emojis and hotwords. It is easy to install, easy to use and it is also free and open source.
